is consistency your achilles heel?

“Yoga allows you to rediscover a sense of wholeness in your life, where you do not feel like you are constantly trying to fit broken pieces together.”

- BKS Iyengar

Hey Team,

Consistency. It’s boring as can be. And probably the key to everything you want or need from practice.

When bringing students and clients into new programs, 99.9% of the time they say they’re lacking consistency. Because it’s such a great need, it's been driving my creativity. I’m asking: Why is consistency so elusive? Is it because we’re pursuing it in the wrong way? Or assessing with faulty metrics?

I think all of these are true to some degree.

Consistency is elusive because we expect it to be something it can never be. Rigid, static. Similar to believing balance should be still. But balance is always dynamic. And consistency requires an abundance of flexibility.

If you allow for flexibility, you can stop pursuing consistency with discipline and willpower. Instead, you develop a rhythm and relationship. Rhythm has ebbs and flows, highs and lows.

If you have flexibility and flow, a relationship develops. And relationship is something you return to. There is room for breaks and busy seasons. Because it’s not duty or obligation driving you but conversation and connection. As long as you’re relating to body, mind, and spirit some way, some how. You win. You're 'yoking'. You can claim consistency. These metrics naturally, easily bring sustainability and longevity.

While it might seem like I’m holding consistency light and loose. It’s not a small thing. It’s the beginning and the first ingredient to Make Practice Miraculous.

What is a Miraculous Practice? One that produces surprising, welcome, and wonderful outcomes. An arena where you get inexplicable results. And there is a formula for creating this type of practice.

To get a glimpse of how we do it, what’s in the Challenge, and to learn the Formula for Miraculous Practice, watch the videos we added here: Explore what's in the Challenge

The 6-week Journey to Make Practice Miraculous begins on August 19. Last day for enrollment will be August 22.

May your practice have rhythm and relationship,

Alison
